The English variety of budgerigar has been selectively bred for a larger body type and longer feathers. They tend to have a calmer temperament than their wild-type cousins, but the largest-bodied and longest-feathered may be less healthy and not fly skillfully. As such, I breed towards balance and moderation. 

When bred responsibly for moderate body size and feather length, many of the common health problems experienced by the more extreme show-quality birds can be avoided. English budgies are just as playful and intelligent as their smaller cousins, with some extra floof to love!

Responsibly bred English budgerigars can live 7-10+ years with proper care.
